Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are expected to face each other in the Group F UEFA Champions League matches. The first match is to be celebrated in London on October 22, 2013.

The second will be celebrated at BVB Stadium in Dortmund, Germany the following month. As predicted in The Premier League Insider, both teams are in first and second place in their Group standings.

What can be said about the two powerhouses and the predictions?

Before the arrival of Mesut Ozil, Arsenal was a club that had not won trophies in nearly a decade. There was an exodus of some of its best players to other clubs.

The two major examples were Cesc Fabregas signing with FC Barcelona and Robin Van Persie with Manchester United. The club did not win major trophies for almost a decade.

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger was feeling pressure from the club supporters, owners, and members of the press.  The pressure was intense after Arsenal lost to Aston Villa last August.

Ozil’s arrival turned the fortunes of Arsenal from bleak to one of great possibilities.  A sense of positive thinking permeated throughout the club.  This translated into victories at home and abroad.

Arsenal managed to defeat Marseille and Napoli in their group matches to arrive at first place. At home, the Gunners managed to remain in first place in the 2013/14 Premier League with 19 points.

According to the Arsenal webpage, Ozil managed three goals within seven appearances. The other top scorers besides the Turkish-German striker are Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey, and Oliver Giroud.

The English are currently ranked number seven in the current UEFA scale as reported by the association’s website. They are currently in first place in the Group standings with six points.

Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund is another team that experienced hardship only to rebound. The last UCL trophy for the Germans was in the 1996/97 season.

They managed to reach the finals of the 2012/13 UCL season and remained in second place after Bayern Munich defeated them. Dortmund is currently in second place with three points.

Dortmund is currently number 18 in the current UEFA Ranking scales and second place in the Bundesliga season.  The people to monitor closely are forward Robert Lewandowski and midfielder Marco Reus.

Lewandowski managed to score two goals within two UCL matches.  Reus has one goal and one assist within two appearances under his belt.

The two clubs will fight to the last minute for a victory. While both teams will have a hometown advantage, Ozil and Lewandowski are expected to measure their forces in these two matches.

Both matches will have Ozil and Lewandowski as the architects of their teams play.
