The controversial astro of football Diego Maradona predicted that Chelsea FC would invite former FC Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola to take over next season. Maradona made his declarations in an interview with The Times of India and a h/t to ESPN Soccernet.
Maradona went to say that he admired Guardiola and that the latter would resurface in Chelsea. Guardiola had previously announced that he was going to take a one year sabatical from coaching.
Guardiola may have intentions of accepting or not the Chelsea job. In spite of being a Chelsea supporter, Guardiola should not accept the job of manager of the club.
The first reason is that the Chelsea managerial position is a hot seat. The second reason is that Di Matteo should be given an opportunity to manage Chelsea since it appears he is developing good results.
Roman Abramovich who is the owner of Chelsea appears to be a man who wants instant results. When the team is winning, there is no problem.
When the team is losing, sack the manager and players and bring new ones for instant results. The concept has not helped Chelsea develop a winning strategy secondary to a fear factor and constant turnovers whose victims include Luis Felipe Scolari, Jose Mourinho, and Andres Villas-Boas.
The latest manager is Roberto Di Matteo and is the latest of those appointed after the latest sacking. Up to the present time, Di Matteo has delivered for the Blues and should be given a chance,
It remains to be seen what will transpire.
