Chelsea FC has released an official statement in its website condemning the abusive and racist chants by a small group of its supporters. The abusive and racist chants happened during the UEFA Champions League match between Chelsea FC and Genk.

The abusive and racist chants were aimed at Anton Ferdinand and was related to the incident between John Terry and Anton Ferdinand (QPR Defender). John Terry is being investigated by the English Football Association and Police following accusations of verbal and racial abuse against Anton Ferdinand.

Chelsea FC did the right thing in tackling the chants issue directly before the FA and UEFA took action. The decision by Chelsea FC reaffirms the belief that the club is seriously interested in dealing with and banning racism from its ranks.

The people who inititated and sung these chants are NOT the true face of Chelsea FC. The people who committed this deed are TRAITORS to Chelsea FC and football as well.

It is hoped that Chelsea FC finds the authors [intellectual and factual] of these racist chants. The punishment should be a lifetime ban from Chelsea FC and football.
