Didier Drogba anointed Fernando Torres as his successor after retiring from Chelsea FC. Drogba declared that Torres will be able to continue where he left off.
The anointing of Torres as Drogba's successor is a great end to a terrible start for the Spaniard and the Blues. It is going to help Torres continue to regain his posture and confidence in Chelsea FC.
The end result could be more activity on the part of the striker including scoring goals. What is needed for Torres is support from other members of the club?
The reason is that without club support, Torres is unable to score goals or work any football magic. The other factor needed for Torres to succeed in the next Premier League season is support of the fan base.
The fan base of any club can be difficult for even the most experienced player. When a club is winning or a player is going in the right direction [such as scoring goals], there is praise.
The opposite happens when there are losses and no goals. The world saw this with Torres during the 2011-2012 EPL season.
It is seeing it with Arlen Robbens after FC Bayern Munich lost the UEFA Champions League to Chelsea on the basis of penalties. We are all to blame for this including The Premier League Insider for such criticism.
