ESPN has caved in and decided to allow political advertising during the 2012 US Election season. The news comes to The Premier League Insider in the form of an article written by John Koblin for Deadspin in a h/t to The Wall Street Journal.
It is a shame that one of the leading sports authorities decided to allow political advertisements during the 2012 elections. While it is the right of people to be informed in order to decide who will lead America, a sports network must essentially remain one.
There are people who are tired of the endless insults, fighting, and lack of respect between politicians and those who follow political parties. The people who tire of the insults and lack of respect find refuge in sports networks.
It appears that even in sports, there is no escape from the politics unless the person owns a shortwave radio receptor or can find a true sports station on the internet. The only recourse would be is a TOTAL BOYCOTT OF ESPN DURING ELECTIONS EXCEPT IN CASES OF EMERGENCIES.
AN INVITATION IS EXTENDED TO THOSE WHO FEEL THE SAME WAY. WRITE AND CALL ESPN AND TELL THEM THAT POLITICS AND ELECTION CAMPAIGNS HAVE NO PLACE IN SPORTS MEDIA.
