Uli Hoeness and Louis Van Gaal put their differences aside as Bayern celebrated Gerd Mueller's 65th birthday by thrashing Cluj in Romania.

Cluj 0-4 Bayern

When these two sides met, Bayern was lucky to have taken three points at the Allianz Arena. However, the picture was entirely different in Romania. Andreas Ottl's shot was parried by the keeper and Mario Gomez was on hand to net the first goal. He scored a second when he headed in a headed pass by Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Gomez completed his second hat-trick of the season when he converted from a marvellous Bastian through-ball. Thomas Mueller, who was given a rest on the day, came on the pitch late on and scored a fourth after some misunderstanding at the back between the Cluj defenders.

Every player looked bright and nobody was poor on the day. Hamit Altintop, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Gomez put in wonderful displays while Andreas Ottl showed a spring in his step which seemed to have gone missing in the past one and a half years.

With 12 points from four games, Bayern is assured of a place in the Round of 16 in the Champions League. Bastian Schweinsteiger will miss the next European game against Roma due to his third yellow card of the European campaign against Cluj.

Lahm extends

Philipp Lahm penned a new contract which will see him remain at the club up to 2016. Lahm is a Munich lad through and through- he  was born there, grew up there and played for Bayern's youth side.

Aside from two years on loan to Stuttgart, Lahm has known no other club in his career. Lahm is the vice-captain of FCB and will take over the captaincy when Mark Van Bommel decides to return to Holland.

Borussia Moenchengladbach vs Bayern

Gladbach is the next team which has to face a resurgent Bayern in the Bundesliga. Bayern has a gigantic injury list; but this Bayern side that is currently brushing away teams is one to be wary of as well. It is this Bayern side that has seen the club bring the season back together.

Miroslav Klose, Mark Van Bommel, Ivica Olic, Arjen Robben, Rouven Sattelmeier and Diego Contento remain on the sidelines. Holger Badstuber and Franck Ribery might be back on the bench though.

Gladbach is currently the bottom team in the league. Marco Reus, the young German, extended his contract with the club though till 2015. Gladbach is a team which can play good football but just cannot defend.

Prediction: Bayern might concede but will definitely beat their opponents.

Final Score: Gladbach 1-3 Bayern
