FIFA World Cup 2022: How To Resolve The Drama Surrounding It
After months of speculation, FIFA decided to move the 2022 World Cup to be celebrated in Qatar to the winter. FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke made the official announcement in an interview with Radio France Info which was published in The Daily Mail.
The reasons were the high humidity and temperature in Qatar during the summer. This announcement flies in the face of Mr. Valcke suggested that the winter dates will be November 15, 2022 to January 15, 2023.
While FIFA later issued a statement retracting the Valcke declarations, disaster is brewing within a decade. There is a sense among true footballers that maybe it was a mistake by FIFA to award Qatar the 2022 World Cup.
The World Cup is held every four years in the summer months and Qatar was awarded within these circumstances. Nobody in the voting committee took into account the weather or the infrastructure of the Middle Eastern country.
UEFA President Michel Platini [along with disgraced former CONCACAF President Chuck Blazer] did not take into account the disruption of European schedules. Imagine the Bundesliga, La Liga, and The Premier League having to adjust their schedules to accommodate the 2022 World Cup.
Imagine the UEFA Champions League and Europa League forced to do the same for the sake of Qatar. This mess was created by FIFA President Sepp Blatter because of his persistent delusion of a World Cup hosted in the Middle East.
Now that Blatter, Platini, and company created this mess, they will have to swallow it or find a way to resolve it. They are going to have to find a date or maybe reschedule another vote and award the World Cup to another country such as the USA or Australia.
I have decided to boycott the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for the following reasons.
The whole thing was disorganized from the start and the selection process appears to have been pre-arranged.
The 2022 World Cup mess keeps growing with ideas such as change of dates to multiple countries hosting it.
Many countries in the world organizing their schedule around the FIFA changes.
The possible exploitation of Nepalese and other foreign guest workers in the construction of the stadiums in Qatar.
The time frame for the World Cup is the summer and Qatar agreed to these terms.
It is hoped that this article will be the catalyst for a serious discussion on the 2022 FIFA World Cup including boycotts, moving the match, and or asking for transparency in FIFA Elections.
