FC Barcelona Defensive Midfielder Sergio Busquets is the object of an attempt by Manchester City to raid players for their team this January. The news was initially reported in Tutto Mercado and published in Caught Off Side by the author I Can Believe I Can Fry.

Manchester City is willing to pay $55M for Busquets to transfer to Etihad Stadium where City plays their home games. The news is interesting but there are some doubts in the story.

How will Manchester City handle the transfer with UEFA gradually implementing its new rule on financial fair play?  The question and answer of Sergio Busquets remaining with Barca or leaving is another issue.

My opinion is that I refuse to believe it until I see it. The idea of associating certain people with a transfer can be entertaining but can be taken too far.

I feel that Sergio Busquets is going to remain with FC Barcelona for some time unless something major occurs. The current story is like the one in which the Tottenham Hotspur have an interest in acquiring the services of Blackburn Rovers Defender Christopher Samba.

It would be interesting to see what will transpire in January 2012. For now, let us concentrate on two matches.

1. The UEFA Champions League match between Chelsea and Leverkussen on the 13th of September 2011. The reason is to see what Fernando Torres (hopefully) and Chelsea in action.

2. Benfica VS Manchester United on the UEFA Champions League to see if Chicharito Hernandez will continue with his success on the 14th of September 2011.

3. Manchester City VS Palermo at the same date, same time, same tournament, and same venue.
