Roberto Di Matteo may become a permanent coach of Chelsea FC according to a report from The Daily Mail with h/t to Goal. The reason is the recent victory by Chelsea over Benfica in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter finals match.
Di Matteo has also won five out of six matches in The Premier League since taking the reins of Chelsea from Andre Villas-Boas a few weeks ago. While there have been no comments from Roman Abramovich (Chelsea's owner) and Di Matteo, The Premier League Insider would embrace the idea of Di Matteo as permanent coach of Chelsea FC.
It is only hoped that Roman Abramovich has patience for Di Matteo which he lacked with his previous managers such as Mourinho, Scolari, and Villas-Boas. The UEFA Champions League left some surprises as well.
My prediction is that Chelsea will defeat Benfica 1-0 again and confront FC Barcelona in the semi finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Marseilles 0-2 Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich easily defeated Marseilles with one goal from Mario Gomez and another from Arjen Robben. It is expected that Bayern Munich will advance to the semi finals like Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich 2-0 Marseilles is my prediction.
AC Milan 0-0 FC Barcelona
The match between the two European giants ended in a draw and controversy. AC Milan may have advanced to the UEFA Champions League semifinals.
FC Barcelona did the right thing in submitting a formal complaint against AC Milan before UEFA. The pitch at San Siro left much to be desired with the players slipping on the turf during the match.
There is proof that the pitch was wet and it can be appreciated in the videos. The referee was also biased in favor of AC Milan since he did not punish Christian Abbiati (AC Milan goalkeeper) for a tackle against Alexis Sanchez (FC Barcelona Striker) as the latter attempted a free kick.
The next match between AC Milan and FC Barcelona will be held at Camp Nou. The result will be a 3-1 victory in favor of Barca.
