Chelsea will face Rubin Kazan in the UEFA Europa League Quarter-finals soon. The first leg will be held at Stamford Bridge on April 4, 2013.

The second leg may be held in Moscow, Russia on April 11, 2013. Chelsea earned the Quarter-finals berth after defeating Steaua Bucuresti in a rare show of unity.

Rubin Kazan earned it after ending Levante’s maiden debut with the UEFA Europa League. This quarter-final between the two European giants is not expected to be an easy task for Chelsea.

Rubin Kazan

According to an article published in The Telegraph, [and corroborated with the UEFA webpage] the Russians were in Group H with Inter Milan, Partizan, and Neftci. Rubin Kazan managed to survive the group stage and the Round of 16.

The current record for Rubin Kazan is six wins, three draws, and one loss. The people to watch in Rubin Kazan are Goalkeeper Sergei Ryzhikov, Forwards Jose Rondon, and Vladimir Dyadyun.

Rubin Kazan’s Midfielder Gokdeniz Karadeniz will be an important person in this quarter-final. Ryzhikov will most likely participate in this vital match since he does not concede too many goals.

Rondon is a factor secondary for his scoring ability during overtime against Levante and his goal scoring record. Rondon scored five goals within ten appearances and 842 minutes played in the current UEFA Europa League.

Rondon also has one assist within the current UEFA Europa League season. It will be expected that Rondon may do the same.

Dyadyun scored two goals within six appearances and 186 minutes played. Karadeniz from Turkey scored three goals with two assists within 10 appearances and 886 minutes played in the Europa League.

Chelsea has not had an easy current season. The Blues were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and may be struggling in the FA Cup.

Chelsea might not even win the Premier League this time around. The constant changes in manager damaged Chelsea’s effectiveness in matches.

The Blues have not been helped with the infighting between manager Rafa Benitez and owner Roman Abramovich. The supporters [or some of them] did not help with their criticism of Benitez during Chelsea’s matches.

If Chelsea wants to defeat Rubin Kazan, there will have to be unity in England and Russia. Everyone will have to forget their differences and forge ahead.

The majority of victories begin with psychological unity for all who are involved with Chelsea. The team itself has to play like one with tightening of the defense, midfield, and forward ends.

Chelsea proved that it can be united when it wants to. It did so during its second leg Round of 16 match against Steaua Bucuresti.

If Chelsea can show a sign of unity in England and Russia, the predictions will be

Quarter-finals first leg

Chelsea 3-2 Rubin Kazan

Quarter-finals second leg

Rubin Kazan 1-2 Chelsea
