The Tottenham Hotspur is another Premier League club participating in the UEFA Europa League Quarter-finals. They will face F.C. Basel 1893 during the first and second leg in April 2013.

The first leg will be celebrated on April 4 at White Hart Lane in London. The second leg will be at St. Jakob Park in Basel on April 13.

Muray Yakin FC Basel 1893 coach states that his club looks forward to a match with the Spurs. It is the first time the Swiss and Spurs face each other.

A review of both teams is necessary to arrive at the predictions.

Tottenham Hotspur

The Spurs are ranked 25 in the UEFA Coefficient and emerged in second place from Group J. They won the UEFA Europa League trophy two times in the past.

Andre Villas-Boas will certainly use this match to prove wrong his critics at Stamford Bridge. The Spurs have four wins, one loss, and five draws in the current UEFA Europa League.

The Spurs players to watch in the quarter-finals are Gareth Bale, Jermain Defoe, and Emmanuel Adebayor. Hugo Lloris as a goalkeeper may present an element of surprise in this tournament.

Clint Dempsey is expected to make his mark as a midfielder in this tournament. But he may or may not finish the match.

FC Basel 1893

FC Basel 1893 is a serious contender for the UEFA Europa League. They were eliminated from the current UEFA Champions League season.

FC Basel 1893 is ranked 36 in the UEFA Coefficient. They emerged from Group G in second place with nine points behind Genk.

The Swiss club has four wins, four draws, and two losses in the current Europa League season. Marco Streller and Alexander Frei are forwards expected to bring electricity to the team during the match.

Valentin Stocker is a midfielder who can be challenging for the Spurs. While the Swiss have a history of participation in UEFA tournaments, they have not won trophies.

It is not going to be an easy match for the two contenders. Both want to impress in the Europa League quarter-finals by tightening all areas of play.

It would not be surprising if the matches are decided at the last minute. Again, nothing in sports [like life] is absolute.

First Leg Quarter-Finals

Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 FC Basel 1893

Second Leg Quarter-Finals

FC Basel 1893 3-2 Tottenham Hotspur
