Yossi Benayoun (of Chelsea FC) was racially abused during a friendly match between Chelsea FC and Malaysia XI. What happened? Benayoun was constantly booed and jeered during the match.
What were the reasons for the boos and jeers? Benayoun is the first Israeli to play football in Malaysian soil and some people cannot accept it.
The news was reported by the online magazine Caught Off Side and deserves publicity. The reason is my desire to expose racism in football regardless of its origins and in compliance with "Show Racism The Red Card".
What has happened against Benayoun was nothing more than pure hatred against an individual because of his citizenship and ethnic background. The incident against Benayoun goes against the nature of the attempts to reduce or eradicate racism in football.
The agreements against were approved by organizations such as FIFA, UEFA and AFC (Asian Football Confederation) are also under assault with such behavior.
